Teacher Who Told First Graders There is no Santa Claus Gets Unemployed for Christmas

I remember when I was ten and had believed that Santa was not real. My mom took me to see Santa. As I sat on his lap, I told him I didn’t believe in him. He replied, “I don’t believe in you either, kid, but let’s face it, neither one of us can afford to buck the system.” But, if my first-grade teacher had told me that  Santa wasn’t real, I would have had a fit and been extremely depressed. A substitute teacher in Montville, New Jersey, who has not been named, did that very thing to their first-grade class. He or she has now been fired and will no longer be allowed to work in that school system ever again.

From Fox News

Montville Township Public Schools Superintendent Rene Rovtar confirmed in a statement to Fox News that the substitute, who has not been identified, is no longer with the K-12 district.

Rovtar previously told News 12 New Jersey that “childhood wonder associated with holidays and traditions” is special to her.

The superintendent, calling the incident the Cedar Hill School the “Santa matter,” said no additional comment would be made on the topic due to “the fact that this is a personnel matter.”

This Christmas I am not participating. I plan on being a Rebel Without a Claus.

Cedar Hill school Principal Michael Raj had previously sent a letter to parents following Thursday’s incident at the school, noting the “childhood innocence of the holiday season.”

Raj said that as a parent himself, he understands the “sensitive nature” of the topic.
