Elizabeth Warren has moved so far to the left that she is now endorsing the same candidates the Socialist Justice Democrats are pushing. It could prove problematic if the incumbents win. In the general election, the two incumbents, Henry Cuellar and Dan Lipinsky, could be looking for a little revenge. A few television appearances where they make the same case as Trump that Elizabeth Warren is way outside the mainstream could really hurt her. And if they lose their primaries, long-time supporters of the two might stay home rather than vote for Warren. She might not recover.
The Washington Free Beacon reports:
Warren Endorses Far-Left Candidates Challenging House Dems
Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has endorsed two liberal candidates looking to unseat incumbent House Democrats.
Warren endorsed liberal challengers Jessica Cisneros and Marie Newman in their primary battles against incumbent Democratic representatives Henry Cuellar (Tex.) and Dan Lipinski (Ill.), respectively. Warren cited the challengers’ “unapologetic” progressive values and “unwavering commitment” to abortion in her Monday announcement.
Both of the incumbents targeted by Warren’s endorsement quickly fired back at the Massachusetts senator, labeling her a radical aligned with “outside special interests” looking to “take away local jobs.” Cisneros and Newman are supported by Justice Democrats, the same progressive group that backed Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) in 2018.
Warren’s endorsement of Newman puts her at odds with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which is supporting Lipinski in his reelection bid. The DCCC initially refused to endorse Lipinski but reversed course after criticism from moderate Democrats. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also endorsed Lipinski in the past.
Have you heard of the Justice Democrats? They’re the far left radicals who got AOC and Ilhan Omar elected. That’s who Warren is allying herself with here.
WOAI News reports:
Warren Endorses Ocasio-Cortez Ally for South Texas Congressional Seat
Texas Democrats have begun to turn on each other, as Presidential candidates try to stake out ground ahead of Thursday’s key debate in Houston, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Elizabeth Warren has endorsed a challenger to U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo), who is one of the most popular Democrat office holders in the state. In addition, Warren savaged Cuellar using terms Democrats usually use to refer to Republicans, saying Cuellar ‘is on the side of big money and ‘obstructionism.’
Warren is trying to burnish her progressive credentials as she battles with Bernie Sanders for the left wing of the Democrat base by endorsing immigration attorney Jessica Cisneros, who has the backing of the Justice Democrats, who helped elect liberal firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a Congressional seat in New York last year.
“Jessica knows our diversity is our strength and that when progressives are unapologetic about our values and who we’re in this battle for, we win,” Warren said in a statement. “It’s time Texans had a champion in Congress who does just that.”
