John Hickenlooper, former governor of Colorado and current Democratic Senate candidate has been held in contempt by the Independent Ethics Commission after not showing up for questions on whether or not he accepted free plane rides from corporations.
That is illegal in Colorado.
Democrats and ethics panels don’t mix because they are under oath and just how often does any Democrat tell the truth?
After he became a no show, the commission voted to hold him in contempt.
Bill Leone, one of the Colorado ethics commissioners said:
“By failing to honor the subpoena of the commission, (Hickenlooper) has indicated a disrespect for the rule of law, disrespect for the commission, disrespect for the process, disrespect for the parties and the witnesses.”
Melissa Miller, a spokeswoman for Hickenlooper’s campaign, said :
“John Hickenlooper has made clear he will testify in person. Today’s debacle of a hearing has made clear that WebEx doesn’t work for a legal proceeding like this.”
The Public Trust Institute filed an ethics complaint against Hickenlooper for violating the Colorado Constitution’s ban on gifts when he allegedly accepted private jet flights from businesses and wealthy friends. Hickenlooper has contended that he remains innocent of the charges and that the institute has continued to play politics with the ethics rules.
Hickenlooper hopes to defeat Andrew Romanoff in the June 30 Democrat primary. If Hickenlooper wins the primary, he hopes to beat Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) in November.
The Ethics Commission said that they would discuss possible sanctions against the former governor on Friday morning.
Joanna Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), said that Hickenlooper has shown blatant disregard for the law.
“John Hickenlooper’s unending efforts to avoid testifying about his use of corporate-paid private jets and a Maserati limo have been rewarded with his being found in contempt,” said Rodriguez in a statement on Thursday.

Funny. I have used WebEx daily for 10 years. Millions have forced to learn zoom because of lockdowns put in place by democratic governors, including courts all over the country. Somehow all of us have managed to figure it out but it’s simply beyond the abilities of this Democratic senator.
It would be beyond YOUR abilities, too, if you were busy bumming plane rides off corporate executives, and just generally being too busy breaking the law to be bothered with it.
Fuck you all! That’s the post.
P.S. sUCK A MOIST FART DIRECTLY FROM MY POOP-SHOOT!
They arrested a governor of Virginia for accepting gifts and he went to jail. The Supreme Court of the United States unanimously overturned his conviction and said “gifts” are part of doing business as a politician. I want money, dark money, gifts, all of it out of politics but the barn door is open. These clowns are trying to tarnish Hickenlooper’s campaign. And Trump and his clowns NEVER show up for a subpoena, so I would never show up either.
How many subpoenas did Trump ignore and order others to do the same. Crooked Donnie has no right to speak out about anyone being in contempt. He’s been in contempt for 3 1/2 years. He’s trampled all over the constitution and now he’s done it to the people of America. Trump needs to shut the hell up and ride out the rest of his one and done term.
while I totally agree
one thing:
this kind of important meetings should never ever be held by having some (excuse providing) technology between the subject of a subpoena and a commission:
that is the fault here: laziness on the part of the commission (you can sit 6 feet apart!) to hold office in person (totally possible even with Chinese Wuhan Corona Virus lockdowns)
and giving a ‘get out of jail free’ card to the subpoenaed: ‘webex did not work/connect/whatever ‘
very obviously that commission did not take this serious enough to get their f.. a…s of the couch.
cost? if found guilty the subpoenaed person pays, right?
