Beginning a story with good news is always refreshing, so I’m going to put forward a couple ideas for your consideration here, and you can decide for yourself if this resonates with you.
The oldest best-selling book on the planet is the Holy Bible. One acronym I find interesting describes it as the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. It’s a very honest book. In it, we find all manner of illustrations covering every aspect of life, from political, to social, to physical, to moral, to emotional, and even to financial dealings. It is not only a book of illustrations, but the stories in it reveal the best AND the worst of God’s crowning creation, the human being, both in excellence and in failure.
If you take a few steps back and look at the overall picture, it’s a collection of love letters from God to mankind. In the Bible, God is called Father. In a family structure, loving fathers typically are tasked with the mission of leading, guiding, and correcting as the need arises. The book is a collection of instructional documents from the Father God to his children.
One familiar “document” is the one we call the Ten Commandments. Many would say the Ten Commandments are too harsh and too strict, but if you change your perspective and think of them as guiding principles with love as their basis it starts to make a lot more sense.
Let’s cherry-pick a couple of the shorter ones as examples. Try thinking about it like this: Connect each of these with the question “If I love someone, would I ____?” “Thou shalt not kill” (more specifically, commit murder). If I love you, will I murder you? Nope. Or, “Thou shalt not steal.” If I love someone, will I steal their stuff? The answer should be No. “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” If I love my spouse, will I have sex with someone else? Not a good plan. Go through the whole list with that in mind and you’ll see that everything about the Bible is guidance from God to mankind with the intent of instilling the best qualities of love, kindness, and dignity.
One of the earmarks of being a good father is to give his children boundaries which will keep them safe and protected. As a dad myself, when my children were small, I was very watchful to see that they were safe and remained unhurt. The idea of someone coming at them with the intent to hurt them caused a very strong protective instinct to come up, and I would have done whatever necessary to stand in the way of harm so that they wouldn’t be hurt.
God feels that way about humanity. There are many things that are present in this world that will hurt us, and he loves us so much that he made a point of telling us in plain language that he disapproves of certain actions and attitudes, not with the intent of depriving us, but with the understanding that if we do things that go outside of the dream he planted inside each of us we will be hurt.
An example of that comes to mind that I believe is one to which a lot of people can relate. The Bible says in so many words that God hates divorce. People have taken that to mean that because they have been divorced, God now hates them too. I believe the real reason he hates it so much is because he knows how much pain it causes in our hearts, and he doesn’t want us to be hurt. Having been down that road, I can say there were times I would have rather died than hurt so badly. I’ve never been widowed, but from what I’ve been told by those who have been through both, say they are very close to the same level on the pain scale.
So where am I going with all this? God set up some patterns way back at the beginning of time when he created the two individuals Adam and Eve. There was nobody else but the two of them, and they were the perfect match. Along with that, he set up some standards, including the stipulation that sexual relations were to be exclusively between one man with one woman, for life. There are those who would say it’s too restrictive, but if you take things in the same context as what I’ve already illustrated, you would begin to understand that the restriction is to protect you from pain, and to provide you with a path to real satisfaction and fulfillment of your destiny as you live out your life.
That being said, over the past 6,000 years, there have been many deviations from God’s paths, and we are at a point in our history where the deviations are now being put forth as acceptable alternative lifestyles.
With that as my preamble, I’ll now get into the rest of the story we have to share today.
For too long our great country has been infected with political correctness and the acceptance of perversions as “normal”. There are many traps laid for mankind listed in the Bible, among them the concept of wrong being turned to right and right turned to wrong. (See Isaiah 5:20) In my brief time on earth, my conviction is that God has a path and a plan clearly laid out for the humanity he created. For us to experience the best he has to offer it’s best for us to follow his blueprint rather than to explore “alternative” lifestyles and choices.
This story reveals that there are now Drag Queen Story Hours being conducted, and as can be expected, there is a lot more being taught to the children and more going on than just the reading of children’s stories.
Protesters gathered outside a Long Island, New York, public library Saturday to speak out against the library’s decision to host a Drag Queen Story Hour with children as young as four years old.
Dozens of protesters lined up outside the Port Jefferson Public Library, holding signs such as “Honk to Oppose Drag Queen Story Hour,” and “Where Is Bible Story Hour?” to protest Saturday’s Drag Queen Story Hour—where a drag queen reads stories to young children, News 12 Long Island reported.
“I don’t think we should push this ideology and statements to a 4-year-old,” Pastor Julio Carrion, of Port Jefferson, told News 12 Long Island. “But if they want to continue the conversation with an adult, I’m here now.”
A counter-protester wearing a giant rainbow flag begged to differ with many of the protesters, saying drag queens are merely characters.
“If they don’t want their children to be read to by a character—not even a transgender woman—by a drag queen which is a character, like Spiderman, then go away,” said counterprotester Roland Hoffman, of Manorville.
It must be said that men dressing and acting like women, and vice versa, is NOT the way mankind was created to live. The Bible very clearly says that God considers cross-dressing, “gender fluidity”, same-sex sexual relations, and other aberrations that deny the original design prescribed by Biblical standards are nothing more, and nothing less than wicked. Wicked, by definition, is “twisted”, and that’s exactly what this is… a twisted view of the way God originally created humans to live. God loves us FAR beyond anything we can even imagine. He doesn’t want us to be hurt. That’s why he says to not do these kinds of things. It twists us into a kind of knot that ultimately is very painful, and the tighter the knot gets, the more pain there is. He doesn’t want us to be bound up in these things. He wants our freedom FAR much more than we do, believe it or not!
Back to the story at hand, I agree with the protesters, and here’s why. God has been pushed out of the picture for too long in this country, and we need to turn back in the manner of 2 Chronicles, 7:13-14: 13 If I shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or if I command locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence and plague among My people, 14 and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land. [Amplified Bible] We desperately need the hand of God to move in this country, and this is one of the best paths we can follow.
The Bible also tells us that there is a way to get into the plan of God for our lives. Jesus’ words are “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” [John 14:6] And “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” One more: The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. [2 Peter 3:9] Give him your life. You won’t regret it. He loves you with the love that is beyond our ability to understand.
