Beto O’Rourke And Chuck Schumer Take Shots At Each Other Over Gun Control

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of David Harris Jr.

Former congressman Robert “Beto” Shamrock O’Rourke (D-TX) (I can’t even call him a 2020 hopeful anymore) has apparently decided that he is never running for the U.S. Senate again as he attacked Minority Leader Chuck Schumer earlier this week by claiming Schumer had dishonestly dismissed his demands for gun confiscation after the minority leader said that he didn’t know of any other Democrat who agreed with the desperate Texas politician.

Thursday night Shamrock shot back [snicker] at Schumer by trashing his leadership, saying that Schumer hasn’t gotten anything done on gun control, even when he was in the majority in the Senate.

“Ask Chuck Schumer what he’s been able to get done,” Beto said to reporters after a town hall, when they egged him on by asking him about Schumer’s recent dig on Beto for not having any real support from Democrats.  I’ll tell you why.  Because Beto is a nut, and a political whore who just last year said he was in favor of AR-15 owners being able to keep their guns, but now says “Hell Yes!” he will take your AR-15 away from you.

“We still don’t have background checks. Didn’t have them when he was in the majority, either. So the game that he’s played, the politics that he’s pursued have given us absolutely nothing and have produced a situation where we lose nearly 40,000 of our fellow Americans every year.”

It’s a probable fact that Schumer would also love to confiscate all of our guns, but unlike Beto, Chuck isn’t an idiot.  Beto crapped the proverbial bed when he let the cat out of the bag during the last primary debate with his “Hell Yes!” moment.  Up until then, leftists were always vague about their intentions of taking away your guns.  Chuck was probably responding tongue-in-cheek with Beto’s debate performance still fresh in his mind.

Beto likes to tout the 40,000 gun deaths each year number, but he fails to recognize that the number includes suicides, accidents, and gang-related shootings.  He wants you to think all gun deaths comes from mass shootings.

As for background checks, I own six handguns and two rifles, and I had to go through a background check for every one of them.  One day I purchased two pistols in the same transaction, and I was forced to go through a background check for each one.

This nonsense about the need for federal background checks is a lie.  Currently, if you purchase a firearm through an FFL (a licensed gun dealer), federal law mandates that you go through a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

Democrats who call for “universal background checks” really want a gun registry, and background checks laws is how they would get it.

Beto also continues to talk about a mandatory buyback program, and we have yet to see a single fake news reporter ask Mr. 3% how he can call it a “buyback” program when the government never sold you your guns, never owned them, or gave them to you?  You can only buy something back that you once possessed and either sold or gave away to someone.
