Spenser Rapone, a West Point graduate, made the news when a graduation photo displayed an apparent support for communism.  He began serving active duty with the Army after leaving West Point, but his troubles over the photo had just begun as the controversy of that photo will not go away.

The soldier has since been discharged from the Army.

From Tribunist:

“After posting the photo, Rapone was discovered to be a vehement communist propagandist and ‘official socialist organizer’ of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA),” American Military News writes. “Rapone’s social media was filled with up to hundreds of posts, messages and photos that were being circulated around the military and civilian communities.”

Rapone even posted an image of himself wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt.

People who wear Che shirts are either evil to the core or just as ignorant.  Che Guevara was a brutal murderous thug of communist Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, and was personally responsible for the murder of over 400 people for the crime of simply not wanting to be a communist.  What kind of message does that send when a West Point grad wears a t-shirt commemorating the thug?

Che made no secret of his bloodlust: “It is hatred that makes our soldiers into violent and cold-blooded killing machines,” he wrote. But he fell out of love with the revolutionary catastrophe he had created. After helping to ruin the island’s economy as minister of industry and president of the Cuban National Bank, he flounced off to bring revolution to Bolivia’s peasantry. They turned him over to the army, who shot him in October 1967.

Just to give some clarity here, the next time you see a friend wearing a Che t-shirt sit them down and read to them the following Che quotes, and then have him burn the shirt.

1. “Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any enemy that falls in my hands! My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood. With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial howl!”

2. “Blind hate against the enemy creates a forceful impulse that cracks the boundaries of natural human limitations, transforming the soldier in an effective, selective and cold killing machine. A people without hate cannot triumph against the adversary.”

3. “To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary … These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution!”

4. “A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate. We must create the pedagogy of the The Wall!” The Wall is a reference to the wall where Che’s enemies stood before his firing squads.

5. “I am not Christ or a philanthropist, old lady, I am all the contrary of a Christ … I fight for the things I believe in, with all the weapons at my disposal and try to leave the other man dead so that I don’t get nailed to a cross or any other place.”

6. “If any person has a good word for the previous government that is good enough for me to have him shot.”

7. Che wanted the result of the Cuban missile crisis to be an atomic war. “What we affirm is that we must proceed along the path of liberation even if this costs millions of atomic victims.”

8. “In fact, if Christ himself stood in my way, I, like Nietzsche, would not hesitate to squish him like a worm.”

9. “Let me say, at the risk of seeming ridiculous, that the true revolutionary is guided by great feelings of love.”

10. “It’s a sad thing not to have friends, but it is even sadder not to have enemies.”

The commie-loving Rapone served briefly as an infantry officer in the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y.  until he deployed to Afghanistan, and now has officially received an “other than honorable discharge.”

The Army began an investigation after his pics on social media went viral.  He angered a lot of people who at first thought it was just a stunt.

The Army and West Point have both weighed in on the controversy. The Army simply notes that there are “strict rules regarding the wear and appearance of Army uniforms.”
