Michael Horowitz, the Inspector General for the Justice Department on Thursday will release the results of his investigation into claims that the FBI did not  follow department protocols when investigating Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

Horowitz, an appointee of President Barack Obama, launched the investigation in January 2017.  The investigation was a noncriminal review, which means he could not subpoena former Justice Department or FBI employees or any other witnesses to testify.  It’s better than nothing, and so far, the IG is the only one in the D.C. swamp who seems to be a straight shooter and who wants to get to the bottom of the alleged corruption of the Obama DOJ and FBI during the 2106 presidential election.  Hillary’s illegal email server is just the beginning.

The report is expected to be more than 500 pages, and may be enough to start criminal proceedings against Clinton, Comey, and other creeps who were involved.  President Trump has argued all along that not enough attention was paid to the purposeful whitewashing of the email server case.  Evidence has been uncovered that Clinton’s exoneration letter was written before the FBI ever interviewed a single witness, let alone Hillary Clinton herself.

We also now know that the initial written notes Comey used to close out Hillary’s email server case, arguably to help her win the election, contained the words “grossly negligent” to describe Clinton and her staff’s handling of classified information, and were changed to “extremely careless”.  Only Democrats would think the actual letters of two words, and not the meaning behind them, would exonerate Clinton of violating the law.  “Gross negligence” is the standard in the Espionage Act, and extremely careless is no different, but it offered an argument for Clinton to use if nothing else.  These people are as corrupt as the day is long.

Last week Trump questioned on Twitter why it was “taking so long” for the report on “Crooked Hillary and Slippery James Comey” to come out.  Speculation is that the contents of the report will place Clinton and Comey in legal jeopardy.  It’s been an 18 month long wait so far.

From the Washington Examiner:

A draft of the IG’s work product reportedly said Comey’s behavior there was “insubordinate,” and also criticizes former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for how she handled the Clinton probe.

Democrats have said they were hurt most by Comey’s actions during the election. But the IG’s final assessment on that score might still end up helping Trump in his effort to cast the former FBI director as incompetent, and someone who he had to fire.

A damning IG report could help Trump deflect criticism that he fired Comey to scuttle the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia, and some think the IG report will deliver for Trump.

“The upcoming IG report is likely to be highly critical of the FBI leadership when it comes to decisions made regarding the Clinton email investigation and may also be critical of Justice Department oversight of the FBI,” Jamil N. Jaffer, a former White House lawyer under President George W. Bush, told the Washington Examiner.

Jaffer added that the discovery of problems at the Justice Department or the FBI shouldn’t be an excuse to tear down the institution.

“Even though there may be very real, and potentially serious problems that need to be fixed, these are critical institutions to rule of law in this country and the vicious attacks they have suffered in recent months are simply unwarranted and frankly should be called out as unacceptable,” he said.

IG Horowitz has already released reports on other officials, like fired and disgraced former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions back in March.  McCabe was accused of lying to FBI investigators under oath about his leaking of information to the press, and in April the IG sent out a criminal referral to the U.S. attorney in Washington.  God only knows if that will ever go anywhere, as the Obama holdovers in the DOJ are the most corrupt federal employees we’ve ever seen.

The IG has also released text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who were both on Robert Mueller’s team investigating the Trump-Russia collusion hoax.  Those text messages revealed both Strzok and Page’s hatred for Donald Trump, and how they wanted to hurt him in the election and help Hillary Clinton.  They also revealed a so-called “insurance policy” against Trump, and insinuated that Andrew McCabe was involved in a conversation of said insurance policy.

The report will be released later Thursday afternoon, and lawmakers will have a chance to follow up with IG Horowitz next week as he goes before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday and the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees on Tuesday.

The frightening thing is that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, arguably one of the most corrupt individuals in U.S. history and the linchpin for continuing obfuscation in the DOJ, doesn’t seem bothered by the fact that the IG report could land him in serious legal hot water.  Whether it’s an act, wishful thinking, or mental impediment, Rosenstein may know something about the report the rest of us do not.  We’ll have to wait and see when the report gets released.
