We may have found a solution to funding the border wall after all.  Mexico won’t have to put up a dime, and the U.S. taxpayers won’t have to pick up that tab either…. for once.

The cost for building the wall could be settled by closing the border to illegal immigrants, who tend to go on federal assistance programs.  In other words, the wall will pay for itself by doing what it is designed to do.

That’s what recent immigration studies are showing about the $18 billion wall that President Trump plans to build along the southern border.  By stopping not only the flow of drugs and crime, but poverty, the savings to the American taxpayer would fund the wall.

From the NY Post:

“The wall could pay for itself even if it only modestly reduced illegal crossings and drug smuggling,” Steven A. Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, told The Post.

We have federal data that already shows that a wall will work.  Under the Bush administration, a two-story corrugated metal fence was built that has stopped illegal crossings there by more than 89 percent over the five-year period during which it was built.

The Homeland Security Department says that without a wall we can expect an additional 1.7 million illegals coming into the United States over the next decade.  And you know it would end up being at least double that estimate.

No amount of pablum-speak about letting illegals stay and dreamer families being destroyed will stop people from illegally crossing our southern border, so the only way to do it is to make it darn near physically impossible, and a wall would do just that.

Think about it.  Camarota says if a wall stopped just 200,000 future illegal crossings, it would pay for itself in fiscal savings from welfare, public education and other benefits currently given to illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America.

If a wall stopped 50 percent of those expected crossings, he says, it would save American taxpayers a whopping $64 billion — almost four times the wall’s cost — to say nothing of the additional billions in federal savings from reduced federal drug interdiction and border-security enforcement.

And after the wall is built and paid for, future years of those types of savings could be put to good ‘America First’ uses.

According to the study Camarota talks about, illegals coming from Mexico and Central America account for more than 75 percent of the illegal immigrants inside the U.S., and they are overwhelmingly poor, unskilled, uneducated, and don’t speak English.  This usually puts them into jobs that pay low wages, and even if they do pay taxes, their low wages mean they pay next to nothing in taxes, yet they use up a lot of public services due to being so poor.  Remind your liberal friends of that fact the next time they  claim that illegals are participating when they pay taxes.

Democrats over the years made sure that illegals who have children born in the U.S. get some form of welfare benefits on behalf of their children, usually by mischaracterizing the 14th Amendment’s anchor baby fairy tale.

Illegals coming into the country create an average burden of more than $72,000 during their lifetime, and when you add in their children, the amount goes up to about $94,000.  That’s not chump change, and it’s per illegal.  Multiply that by 11 million illegals and now you know why Trump got elected for saying he wants to build a wall.

But, but, but I thought illegals weren’t getting welfare.  Isn’t that what liberals have been telling us all this time?

While the national media routinely report that illegal immigrants don’t go on welfare, Camarota says this is a pervasive myth. While in most cases they can’t legally qualify for welfare, food stamps, Medicaid or other public benefits, the reality is that the vast majority of households headed by illegal immigrants are on welfare through their children.

“There is simply no question that households headed by illegal immigrants access a good deal of welfare. In fact, illegal immigrants’ use of some programs is quite high,” he said.

The latest survey by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that 62 percent of illegal-immigrant-headed households are on federal welfare.  That’s more than double the rate of households headed by native-born Americans.

There are many services and programs where illegals do participate that cost the American taxpayer large sums of money.  For example, through fraud and administrative errors, illegals are able to take advantage of many services they otherwise wouldn’t.  Pregnant illegals in the country can sometimes be enrolled in the Medicaid program.

There is also an Emergency Medicaid program that covers mostly illegal immigrants.  Funds go to hospitals to offset the costs of treating adult illegal aliens who can’t pay their bills, and it’s not just for ER visits.  Those services, all covered by taxpayers, are very costly every year.

Democrats love to virtue signal us about having compassion for poor illegal aliens who deserve basic human rights to medical treatment, and all the other gobbledygook they throw at us, but what about compassion for American citizens who constantly have to foot the bills for illegals while being lied to about how paying the costs for illegals is only temporary, because government is eventually going to fix the problem?  Once fixed, those hefty costs for services to illegals will go away.  Yet, they never go away.  In fact, the costs keep going up every year with the steady flow of more and more illegals coming here every year.

While Democrats like to complain about the $18 billion cost for the Trump wall being too high, the “Dreamers” amnesty bill they want Trump and Republicans to pass in exchange for funding the wall, which we all know they wouldn’t follow through with end the end anyway, would cost U.S. taxpayers even more than the construction of the wall over 10 years.

Shutting down the government gravy train to every uneducated pauper south of the border would do several things; it would save the American taxpayers a ton of money, would stop the influx of criminals coming into the country, would block much of the drug trade from Mexico flowing into the U.S., and it might force the socialist countries these wretches come from to make some serious changes in their own governments that wouldn’t cause their people to have the need to flood into the United States.
