Overreaching proposals to provide healthcare for all Americans (including illegals, but they won’t tell you that) and to end climate change (which isn’t really caused by man, but they won’t tell you that either), pointed out by Republicans as socialist in nature, haven’t garnered the support that was expected by the sponsors, and haven’t won the backing of even half the House Democrats and has lost any chance for being brought to the floor for consideration.
There just isn’t enough support for the Green New Deal or the Medicare For All proposals in the House. That’s not good news for Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential aspirations, as he was centering his run for the White House on both programs.
The Green New Deal asks every American to give up their way of life. They have to give up their automobiles, replace all heating and cooling systems in every building across America, including their own homes, get rid of cows because their flatulence, things Democrats say are causing climate change. They don’t have any proof of that other than computer models that can be written to say whatever you want them to say.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez proposed the Green New Deal on February 7 of this year, and only garnered the backing of 90 Democrats, with only one co-sponsor. Without Republican support, Democrats fall far short of the 218 votes need to pass the disastrous legislation that would put every American into bankruptcy.
The Medicare for All bill isn’t doing that much better than the Green New Deal. Introduced by Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) the bill had 106 co-sponsors when it was first introduced on February 27. The rest of the House must have the good sense to reject telling the American people they should give up all private health insurance and hand their most personal system of well-being over to a government that can’t even handle the healthcare of America’s veterans.
Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), a known progressive Democrat, hasn’t taken either proposal seriously. That’s not to say she and other Democrats aren’t silently onboard; it’s just that they know the American people aren’t stupid and know a bad deal when they see one, so they distance themselves when it could hurt them politically. The only Democrats back both measures are running in 2020, and during primaries, they have to step all over each other to claim they are the most progressive one to run the United States right into the ground.
From the Washington Examiner:
Meanwhile, Republicans have cited both bills as evidence that Democrats are veering toward socialism.
“Our nation has watched the Democratic Party take a sharp and abrupt left turn toward socialism,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said this week. “A flawed ideology that has been rejected time and again across the world is now driving the marquee policy proposals of the new House Democrat majority.”
McConnell will force Democrats to go on the record at the end of March when he calls up the Green New Deal for a vote. Democrats are trying to turn the tables on the GOP, accusing them of ignoring a looming climate crisis.
“Communism is not dead. I’m still here,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Wait, no. Schumer said, “We Democrats are ready to work.” He continued, “Will Leader McConnell bring his own members’ clean energy legislation to the floor?”
Don’t hold your breath, Chuck.
My book is here! And I personally handed a copy to our President at the White House!!! I hope you enjoy it
