Of course, the mainstream isn’t talking about a story that occurred in 2010 after the terrible earthquake demolished Haiti and Human Trafficking. Because President Trump declared January the month of awareness for Human Trafficking and since Haiti is back in the news, let’s go over what happened with Laura Silsby, the Clintons, and 33 Haitian orphans.
The Clintons helped a convicted child trafficker, Laura Silsby, get a reduced sentence for child trafficking and kidnapping in Haiti.
At the Haitian border, Laura was caught and arrested attempting to traffic 33 children out of the country of Haiti without documentation. Due to the intervention of Bill Clinton, her sentence and charges were drastically reduced. Jorge Puello, Silsby’s initial retained lawyer, was arrested in correlation with an international smuggling ring suspect of trafficking women and minors from Haiti and Central America.
According to ZeroHedge, Silsby was the former director of The New Life Children’s Refuge. Silsby established the organization with Charisa Coulter, and they attended the Central Valley Baptist Church in Meridian, Idaho. Laura also had a lousy record of bad debts and unpaid wages.
Silsby was not able to build her orphanage in the Dominican Republic because she didn’t submit the right application. So, the two women located in Haiti instead according to the State Department’s diplomatic cable.
Before her arrest, in Hillary’s email file on Wikileaks, there were emails from Laura’s organization discussing the NGO. Also in Clinton’s emails, Silsby organization talked about lobbying donations for their “ministry.” Huma Abedin was also forwarding Hillary information about the organization since 2001.
Silsby and nine other U.S. Baptist missionaries were arrested on January 29, 2010, due to them trying to take 33 children from Haiti. Twenty-two of the children were not orphans and had families. Laura and her accomplices stated that they were trying to assist the children by taking them to a safe place after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12, 2010. A few parents in a village outside Port-au-Prince stated they had been eager to give their children to the Americans because they were promised that the kids would have a better life. They had also been guaranteed that the parents would be able to see their children whenever they wanted to.
On February 9, 2010, CNN stated that Silsby had attempted to traffic children out of Haiti before. The Haitian police were given a tip by a local on another attempt about Silsby trafficking about 40 children out of the country, and the Haitian border turned back. There was a time when the authorities were deliberating about adding an extra kidnapping charge centered on this evidence.
The Clintons had an instant interest in Silsby’s case from the beginning she was arrested and stepped in right away to help her. According to The Harvard Human Rights Journal, one of Bill’s initial acts as the special envoy for the United Nations in Haiti “was to put out the fire of a child abduction scandal involving American citizens.” The Sunday Times on February 7th, 2010, described that he made a deal with the Haitian government by acquiring the release of all co-conspirators excluding Silsby. She received a six-month sentence, and her charges were reduced for conspiracy and child abduction to plain “arranging irregular travel.” Given the circumstances of her arrest, this was an appallingly small penalty, and it would not have happened if the Clintons did not intervene on her behalf.
In an email written by Hillary on February 9th, 2010, she discussed with Counselor Cheryl Mills and other attorneys to exam the U.S. Government’s “options” concerning the arrested Americans. This memo was heavily redacted and does not disclose what these “options” entailed. The State Department’s American Citizens Services is only legal organization allowed to suggest lists of local, English speaking attorneys to Americans arrested or detained abroad. It is illegal or a severe violation of protocol to not obtain authorization from this organization. Other emails show that the State Department was a part of creating reports on Silsby’s case and had planned to help Laura’s co-conspirators with arriving back to the U.S. It is a part of the State Departments protocol to assist in these types of circumstances.
The New York Times stated on February 11th, Jorge Puello, Silsby’s original lawyer, was believed to be leading an international human trafficking ring which involved women and minors. The Harvard Human Rights Journal reported that he was eventually arrested concerning the ring. The investigation was run by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Due to Puello’s trafficking network in Central Americans and Haitians, he was wanted in the United States, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.
Previously, his wife had been imprisoned in El Salvador and “faced charges of presumed sexual exploitation of minors and women.” Puello was punished with only three years in federal prison for “alien smuggling.” Again, another small sentence was given to him especially for the charges he was wanted for. It not known if Silsby was an accomplice with Puello’s trafficking network.
This is only one story of many cases of Bill and Hillary being involved in Human Trafficking. The actions of Silby and the Clintons are an embarrassment to the American people. How Bill and Hillary handled the relief effort in Haiti is also a disgrace to this country. This is not the example we want the world to think of when the U.S. is going to give a country aid. Additionally, who knows where those children would have ended up Silsby and group hadn’t been caught.
