I’ve never been one to shy away from my beliefs. I’ll be the first to admit that my passion is one of my greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses. When writing, for the most part, I’ve left my faith out of my work. One of the biggest rules in journalism is to know your audience. Though the people that read my work are generally conservative, Christian, or both, I try to just remain political.

But things have changed. Greatly.

Tonight I wasn’t going to write anything. I was just going to rest and take the night off. It’s the first week of school so it’s been a busy week. But then I saw an article written by a colleague on David Harris, Jr. titled, “Protestors construct guillotine outside Amazon CEO Jeff Bezo’s home.” As I read the article, I learned that these protestors have done this more than once, and are doing so because of Amazon’s positive relationship with the police.

My heart completely broke in half. Most of the time I see something that makes me angry, frustrated, or I just honestly feel needs more exposure whether it’s positive and needs to be praised or negative and needs to be exposed. As angry as this guillotine act makes me, it also saddens me greatly. This is what America has become. These senseless acts of anger and violence have become a new way to demonstrate pain and hurt.

This is so so so wrong. I can’t even begin to fathom how wrong this is. Democrats advocate for these protestors to be excused, they say that it’s their right to “peacefully protest.” There is nothing peaceful about constructing a guillotine outside of someone’s home. Satan has planted this huge lie in America that when you are angry it’s okay to lash out. Be violent. Don’t listen to the law. Instead of people turning to God in their pain, they turn to violence.

Police are supposed to protect and serve. That is their job that they wake up in the morning to do. They willingly put their lives on the line for people like you and me. They don’t get to decide whom they save or when. They get a call and respond as best as they can. Yes, there are some that are bad, there are awful people in every single profession. But America seriously needs to start defending the good ones.

These protestors gather outside of Bezo’s home because Amazon helps out police with facial recognition software and because the company has security in place at warehouses. They claim that police presence causes “racial fears.”

It’s honestly sometimes hard to wrap my mind around the evil in this country. Jesus came to give us hope and life. Christians know this but have become dangerously silent. We may not have a cure for COVID, but we do have the cure for the evil in this country.

When I was growing up, though I was sheltered and protected by my incredible parents and family members, I know that things like this weren’t happening. So when did America become this way? When did it become okay to try to light police on fire, as we saw protestors trying to do recently, or threaten the owner of a company?

The answer is painfully simple. When did all of this start happening? When we took God out of the country. Schools started banning prayer, churches started caving their beliefs so as not to offend anyone, and kids started seeing immoral and evil behaviors and actions on tv shows. We traded in our faith, we traded in God for lies, deceit, and sin.

Instead of following our beliefs, reading the Bible, and standing strong for what the Bible says, we have, as the Bible says, “traded in the truth for a lie.” The culture has told us that we can each have our own truth. Your truth may be one thing and mine another, and we’re supposed to accept one another’s truths. This is a very dangerous thing to believe.

America, there is only one truth- God’s truth. You can ignore it. You can fight it. But in the end, when we all die we will have to face our maker. We will be held responsible for our actions. I don’t want Jesus to look at me and let me into Heaven but be disappointed that I blended in with the crowd out of fear, that I backed down on my beliefs so I wouldn’t be different.

Satan has unleashed his demons into this country. Evil is running rampant. These violent protestors, looters, and rioters aren’t innocent people. They don’t actually care about injustice or reform, they just want to be violent, they want to spread evil.

Christians, we need to step up big time. This world has become such a dark place and we are called to be the light. God calls us to be a city on a hill, being a shining beacon for the rest of the world. But where are we? We’re waving rainbow flags to not offend those different from us instead of loving them yet disagreeing with their actions. We’re running to social media to jump on racial bandwagons without thinking for ourselves, and we’re becoming self-righteous about masks all in the fake name of loving others.

If our actions aren’t any different from the world, loving them does nothing to give them the hope we have in Jesus. If we blend in, how will we stand out for God? I challenge you. Get off the couch. Get off of social media. Stop letting everyone live their truth in the name of acceptance and tell them the real truth- God’s truth. Then step back and watch America turn from the evil state it’s in now to one of hope and peace. It isn’t too late, but it may be soon.

We want God to bless America, but if we kick him out, he’ll take the hint and leave us to the Sodom and Gomorrah that we have created.
